CVE-2016-1572 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Ecryptfs and 2 more | 6 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Ecryptfs-utils and 3 more | 2024-02-04 | 4.6 MEDIUM | 8.4 HIGH |
mount.ecryptfs_private.c in eCryptfs-utils does not validate mount destination filesystem types, which allows local users to gain privileges by mounting over a nonstandard filesystem, as demonstrated by /proc/$pid.
CVE-2016-2059 | 2 Google, Linux | 2 Android, Linux Kernel | 2024-02-04 | 4.4 MEDIUM | 7.0 HIGH |
The msm_ipc_router_bind_control_port function in net/ipc_router/ipc_router_core.c in the IPC router kernel module for the Linux kernel 3.x, as used in Qualcomm Innovation Center (QuIC) Android contributions for MSM devices and other products, does not verify that a port is a client port, which allows attackers to gain privileges or cause a denial of service (race condition and list corruption) by making many BIND_CONTROL_PORT ioctl calls.
CVE-2016-1575 | 2 Canonical, Linux | 4 Ubuntu Core, Ubuntu Linux, Ubuntu Touch and 1 more | 2024-02-04 | 7.2 HIGH | 7.8 HIGH |
The overlayfs implementation in the Linux kernel through 4.5.2 does not properly maintain POSIX ACL xattr data, which allows local users to gain privileges by leveraging a group-writable setgid directory.
CVE-2016-2854 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2024-02-04 | 4.6 MEDIUM | 7.8 HIGH |
The aufs module for the Linux kernel 3.x and 4.x does not properly maintain POSIX ACL xattr data, which allows local users to gain privileges by leveraging a group-writable setgid directory.
CVE-2015-8539 | 3 Canonical, Linux, Suse | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Linux Kernel, Linux Enterprise Real Time Extension | 2024-02-04 | 7.2 HIGH | 7.8 HIGH |
The KEYS subsystem in the Linux kernel before 4.4 allows local users to gain privileges or cause a denial of service (BUG) via crafted keyctl commands that negatively instantiate a key, related to security/keys/encrypted-keys/encrypted.c, security/keys/trusted.c, and security/keys/user_defined.c.
CVE-2016-2853 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2024-02-04 | 4.4 MEDIUM | 7.8 HIGH |
The aufs module for the Linux kernel 3.x and 4.x does not properly restrict the mount namespace, which allows local users to gain privileges by mounting an aufs filesystem on top of a FUSE filesystem, and then executing a crafted setuid program.
CVE-2021-34527 | 1 Microsoft | 17 Windows 10 1507, Windows 10 1607, Windows 10 1809 and 14 more | 2024-02-02 | 9.0 HIGH | 8.8 HIGH |
<p>A remote code execution vulnerability exists when the Windows Print Spooler service improperly performs privileged file operations. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could run arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.</p> <p>UPDATE July 7, 2021: The security update for Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016 and Windows 10, Version 1607 have been released. Please see the Security Updates table for the applicable update for your system. We recommend that you install these updates immediately. If you are unable to install these updates, see the FAQ and Workaround sections in this CVE for information on how to help protect your system from this vulnerability.</p> <p>In addition to installing the updates, in order to secure your system, you must confirm that the following registry settings are set to 0 (zero) or are not defined (<strong>Note</strong>: These registry keys do not exist by default, and therefore are already at the secure setting.), also that your Group Policy setting are correct (see FAQ):</p> <ul> <li>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers\PointAndPrint</li> <li>NoWarningNoElevationOnInstall = 0 (DWORD) or not defined (default setting)</li> <li>UpdatePromptSettings = 0 (DWORD) or not defined (default setting)</li> </ul> <p><strong>Having NoWarningNoElevationOnInstall set to 1 makes your system vulnerable by design.</strong></p> <p>UPDATE July 6, 2021: Microsoft has completed the investigation and has released security updates to address this vulnerability. Please see the Security Updates table for the applicable update for your system. We recommend that you install these updates immediately. If you are unable to install these updates, see the FAQ and Workaround sections in this CVE for information on how to help protect your system from this vulnerability.
